A Hidden Gem – Avila Beach, California

Avila Beach on the Central Coast of California is a somewhat hidden gem because there aren’t any big signs pointing tourists to it. Tucked in the hills between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach lies this comparatively uncrowded oasis on the California coastline. There are two piers in this small cove; one serving the main boardwalk/beach area where you can walk to the end and the other serving as research station for Cal Poly University.

  1. this is my favorite place in central coast ca, really peacefully perfect to spend a day with the whole family, the only complain i have is that the Avila is so limited on parking spaces, you have to get there early in order to find one, specially during the summer weekends, otherwise will end up driving around the town until you find one.

  2. I recently stayed three nights in Avila Beach. It is definitely a hidden gem. It seemed very safe also. Unfortunately the pier is closed for repairs. I hope to visit someday again!
